Tool for management of construction and assembly of power equipment

Goal

In a long-term period of time, a customer needed to secure performance-based inspection activities regarding the preliminary phase of a construction including device assembly and putting the power station into operation. Besides the usage of standard project tools, it was necessary to coordinate factual outcomes and secure the feedback of real fulfilment of prescribed inspection and test programmes.

Solution

Taking into account the heterogeneous IT infrastructure and insufficient network coverage of a building site, two application deliveries have been realized – db Oracle for the investor and MS Access (or Oracle) for the contractors (with the option to choose). XML protocol has been used to secure the link between the contractors‘ information systems. An approach like this enabled to bring the software into productive operation within 6 months since the contract was signed.

Assignment

The solution offered a chance to archive the data from the construction of power station uniquely so it was quickly accessible during the operation. The investor uses the data to evaluate the state of devices and to calculate the residual lifecycle of devices. The short-term contribution lies in both a top-quality feedback between the investor and contractors and faster and more transparent processes.
